Subject: Verizon® Yellow Pages – Late Order and Dedicated Dealer Policy Update

  

 

Following are summaries of two important policies that CMRs encounter on a regular basis when advertising in Verizon Yellow Pages:

 

LATE ORDER POLICY:

 

Idearc will allow the following late activity:

·    Corrections for accuracy

·    Upgrades and changes to existing national advertising when schedule allows (must be same name, telephone number, heading).

·    Insertion of additional items for existing national advertising (same name, address, telephone)

·    Insertion of Closed trade advertising when there is no locally placed advertising on the same finding line

·    New item for a location that has not advertised previously as long as the advertiser has not already been contacted by Idearc Local Sales

·    Cancellation if the business is closed (documentation is required)

·    Cancellation if the business is no longer authorized or affiliated with the national advertiser (documentation is required)

 

Idearc will not allow the following late activity:

·    Cancels and downgrades of national advertising

·    Cancels and downgrades due to advertiser failing to pay the CMR.

·    ** New ** Transfer of items from local to national when advertising was placed in the previous issue by Idearc Local Sales.

THE FOLLOWING DEDICATED DEALER SPECIFICATIONS APPLY TO ALL VERIZON DIRECTORIES:

 

Dedicated dealers are national programs of major national advertisers that generally operate through individually owned outlets with listed names other than that of the national advertiser. In order to accommodate these types of advertising programs, Idearc accepts national advertising for such programs within the following criteria:

 

Associations and groups do not qualify for this program.

Listed Name Requirements

If the listed name is not the national advertiser’s name, then the name must incorporate both the national and local name.

Acceptable Names

Brown’s True Value Hardware, or

True Value/Brown’s Hardware, or

True Value Hardware

Display Advertising Requirements

·    The anchor name must meet the above listed name criteria.

·    The national brand name or service and integrated logo, where applicable, must be larger, bolder and more predominant than the local outlet name and integrated logo, where applicable.

·    At least one-half of the copy content and space of the ad must feature information about the national advertiser’s product/service.

·    The local outlet name, i.e. Brown’s Hardware, may appear in the ad.

·    Only one local outlet business name can appear in each ad (multiple local outlets may qualify for Trademark Display).

·    The advertising space may not be subdivided into smaller advertisements by the use of lines.

·    Display advertising may include photographs of agents, distributors, etc… of the national advertiser.

·    Brand names that are competitive are not allowed.

AT&T - Enhancements to Art Submission Guidelines for Non-Elite for Graphics Users

 

 

New Internal System Enhancements for Non-Elite for Graphics Users for Pub 962, 927, 760, 836, 829, 514, 717, 815, 724 & 997

 

As of February 26, 2007, all AT&T Pubcos require that Art IDs must be unique for a specific ad appearance:

 

Ø      Art IDs must be unique per art piece and can have no content variations under that same Art ID

Ø      Art IDs can only be inserted in orders where there is an identical UDAC and column size

Ø      Art IDs can only be reused within the same AT&T region due to ad size and appearance differences between regions

 

There are no checks in place like in Elite for Graphics, so it will be the CMR's responsibility to ensure the above guidelines are followed.

 

All CMR Art IDs become our Pubco's internal Ad IDs allowing our Pubco to track CMR items using your CMR Art ID. Replicated Art IDs will be converted into our publishing system once by the Art ID assigned by the CMR. Subsequent submissions of that same Art ID in other orders will insert that same art into the ordered appearances.

 

While converting our system over to the Art ID numbers from CMR's orders, some accounts will be queried to submit a new Art ID as a result of two replicated items of different ad size pointing to one Art ID number. These queries are due to CMRs using replication without guidelines or checks being in place and must be handled.  NEVER USE THE SAME ART ID FOR DIFFERING AD SIZES OR APPEARANCES.

  

Guidelines for submitting your copy if replicating your art:

Ø      If the same Art ID is to appear at multiple headings or directories, you must submit an artwork transmittal for each. Other options are available by contacting AT&T Service Bureau Groups.

Ø      CMRs can replicate Art IDs on all AT&T Mini/Companion directories when copying art from the full size directory.

Ø      Change to artwork will require a new Art ID

 

AT&T encourages the use of Elite for Graphics as the means for artwork transmission. Checks within Elite for Graphics ensure accuracy for both the publisher and CMR and automatically ensure the above guidelines are followed.  Please contact an AT&T Service Bureau to begin testing if you have already been approved by YPA for Elite for Graphics.

AT&T/BellSouth Rates & Data Information

The YPA membership change memo dated February 19, 2007 stated that the Company Purchase of BellSouth Advertising & Publishing Corp. by AT&T Advertising & Publishing would be reflected in the April issue of Rates & Data.  The company merger was effective with this memo; however, per a request by BellSouth Advertising & Publishing Corp. the data merge as a result of the company merger will not occur in the April issue of Rates & Data, but will be reflected in the August 2007 issue of Rates & Data.
